Not sure what you are trying to acheive but you should be running on SP3 and if you are and you're using a disc which has been slipstreamed with SP2 it won't work. Make another disc using this http://www.howtohaven.com/system/slipstream-xp-service-pack-3.shtml

I think there is a very good chance that your machine is infected. If the slipstream doesn't work......

Follow the instructions carefully. If you cannot complete any of the steps, go on to the next but don't forget to mention your problem to the analyst.

Don't recall updating to SP3 I think I am 99% sure I am still on SP2. The only thing I can do is load WIndows from the CD and get in to Set-up. I was hoping that I could work thru the Recovery Console to save the data on the computer. Way too much music on this thing to just give up.

Any ideas as to how I should proceed - it does NOT boot - goes to same BSD fatal system error c000021a every stinking time. Don't know how to get it to give me any logs.

 

Update. I am able to get the unit to boot in to Admin screen. No users. Not surprised as I replaced registry per instrucitons @ http://support.microsoft.com/kb/307545

But now I have no mouse or keyboard control. Any ideas. Must be a set-up switch I need to change.
