My PC needed to reinstall Windows 98 - but I had lost the cd's. My friend gave me his Dell Windows XP Home CD and I was able to load it - I used his activation key and it worked. I upgraded to SP2 and had no problems and I continue to receive the automatic updates. Recently I downloaded Windows Defender and it installed fine. Here is what I am worried about:
1. Will I stop receving updates because I installed Windows Defender?
2. What are the cons of getting XP from a friend rather than buying your own?
3. If I or my friend has to reinstall Windows, will we face any problems?
BTW, the CD that my friend gave me has SP1.
