I have a dell inspirion 4000 and I runs great but where they have the 9 key as a fn for the letters on the keyboard it acts like it is stuck on fn but only on the letters the rest is fine and if i hold the fn key it gives me the letter. How would I fix this?:4-dontkno

Have you disabled any startup items? It sounds almost as if the software for the keyboard has been disabled.
Also double check that there is not a function lock button which would reverse the usage of the FN key.
It could also be a stuck alt or ctrl key.
