hello guys & gals

so let me set explain the situation !!!

my son is taking a course in school for pc repair !!

so my son got a hold of my UBCD then started the Lucifer program that was on it , he did not read anything about the program !!!!

well as it was running he then started to read up on it and found out that it would run for 7 days ( he spazed ) , then it came up with 2 errors , so he shut the program down !!!

so can any one tell me if he hurt his system ?

it is a (compaq-presario-s6220wm) compleatly stock, now it is running slow as a 1927 Model-T ford

any info would be greatful

thanks for your input

Seriously doubtful that he did any real damage to the machine. You say now that it is running slow. I would be curious what is running in the background now. If your running xp pro sp2 can you roll back to a previous date before he installed the lucifer program?

Thanks!!

hello

i think i did'nt explain good enough

the lucifer program runs off of a cd ( ultimate boot cd) it is not installed

it works like a (dos ) program

i have checked and recheck , the pc is fine works great , but as it states in the instuctions the (lucifer) program will cause your motherboard /cpu/memory/ chipsets to get real hot fronm the stress test that it performs on them , this is a burn in program that i use when i build systems

my sons system is a prebuild from HP

rolling the system back made things worse, so i did an undo of that roll back and it put it back to the state that it was at befor the roll back

i am thinking that he hurt the motherboard or processor / ect...

thanks for any futher info

OK Im confused now (easily done today) You say your PC is fine works great. but then say you think he hurt your motherboard or processor. Maybe Im just a moron but Im confused what is the pc doing that makes you think this? Because to me if you think that then the PC cant be working fine.

okay ,

the software ( Windows XP Home SP2) works as it is suppose to

the boot from the motherboard to the harddrive is slow , i pulled the harddrive out and incerted to another pc and it loads like a rocket like it used to , put it back into his system and it crawls , the temps show normal , bios works fine ,

no spyware / viruses/ maleware / rootkits / ect...

when he was runing (lucifer) he said that it was 20 min into the test and it started showing errors when he shut it down

i have searched for errors on his system and can not find any

so the only way to find out is to rerun ( lucifer !!!!!!!!

Well darn I guess I would have to lean towards that something could have happened to Mobo or Proc Am thinking I would burn that program and never use it again :p Sorry if I went out of line there was just a little confused. I will do some research on this and see if there is a better set that you can use to resolved this issues

hello,

i am thinking that he over heated his processor & now it is'nt working the way it used to

thought i better get some advice befor i start a stress test on the processor /memroy / ect...

thanks for the input , i will be getting back with more info as i do more testing my self

just never had this happen befor !!!!!

so i will now start the fine tooth comb diagnostiscs that i was trying to avoid !!!

he will just have to do with out until the pc gets fixed , he now learned a lesson for thinking that he is the master at the ripe old age of 15

i am not going to buy him another , for as he says , my dad don't know $#%!
but i continuosly repair others pc's and have no probs , i beleive it is his teachers !!!

thanks

and still looking for info

Mike
