Nothing appears on monitor.

Hi Experts,

I just installed XP on my machine (P4) from a service centre. But, when i start the machine, first OS name (windows xp) appears on monitor and after that nothing appears on it. Sounds like monitor goes in sleep mode. Even after that i can hear sound of OS start up. But screen remains black. and green light just beeps. What could be the reason behind this?
Please help.

What beeps does it give you, what motherboard do you have?

this might have something to do with the Init First Display option in your BIOS.

up to a certain screen will use default..but you might have it set to use the wrong display.

Do you have 2 different video outputs on that pc?

I have only one video output on the pc. What BIOS settings should i do to fix this problem? can u tell me stepwise? I think what u r saying is quite possible. Please guide.

okies
get to bios >
boot pc and hammer the F2 or F12 keys..different on all models.
Look under integrated peripherals or something along those lines.

Look for AGP/PCI or Display words..

let us know what is there
