by mistake, a friend of mine(computer geek)deleted some files and things just arent right. HELP ME!!
I lost the motherboard in another computer, so we installed the hard drive into my dell desktop to remove those files and install them in my laptop. I got up to go to the bathroom and when i returned, i noticed he was cleaning out the add/remove programs area of some old files in C drive, then he removed some of the windows files off the E drive we installed, but then i said, wait, dont do that because i dont have anything saved to a disc. he said he is only cleaning out the windows files, but there is one file that remains for protection. He was going to use that E drive as my data back up system for my business. the rest of my stuff would remain and for the most part it did. The catch is somehow when he started cleaning out those files, it took out some files off my C drive and i am unable to recover them because we emptied out the recycle bin also. I also am not sure what all files i lost, i had not been on that computer for 9 months.
I brought it to his attention the next day after i got home and he didnt have an answer. I lost several files off the E drive and now my computer isnt working right.
My word program doesnt open like normal, it does some sort of scan of the program, so i installed the word disc and installed the program in an attempt to fix the problem, its seems to have fixed itself but, im still having trouble with using different programs from time to time. MY COMPUTER WILL NOT DO A SYSTEM RESTORE AND THIS HAS BEEN THIS WAY FOR A COUPLE YEARS and i didnt worry about it, but if i could get this to work, i would restore the computer and get back all my files. i have tried not using it as much as possible so that i dont overwrite any old files. I did a recovery with Recuva Software and found 5500 files but i have no clue what im looking for as far as the files he deleted. He told me the files he deleted wont be recoverable, but i would still like to try anyway, i could get lucky and get them back.
The computer works very oddly as far as programs taking longer then normal to load or sometimes i have to reboot a few times.
ANY IDEAS ON THESE FEW PROBLEMS?
