you have formatted and it still happens....???

Hummm...ive seen windows remeber a password and when you type it in it adds to it insted of overwriting it...are there any check in the wrong place...just for S n Giggles try Netscape or one of the free browser ...see if it happens there

also download adawre and/or spybot(adawre much smater brother-careful you can change the look s and operation of windows with this one:winking: )...see if they can find a problem

When I format is goes away temporarily and then resufaces down the track. I tried Ad-aware and the problem still persists.
I'm not even going to bother going down the Netscape road I would rather put up with this annoying problem than use Netscape.

there are two programs out there that go deeper thaen adaware

Pest Patrol... you have to pay to get it to more then tell you what the problems are....but it picks up where adawre and your AV leave off....

Spybot...this thinkg kicks A#$ and is free...but you cant really change the way windows behaves if your not careful....

So...if it is not too much...format one more time and recored everything you do until it comes back...if it is after a period of time I would be lost...but if it is after a install or uninstall...then you have your answer....

mabey someone else can tell you where the password is stored so you can flush the folder

This might not be the cause but it is probably worth noteing.
The problems I am having seemed to have re-occured when a Optusnet Real tracker pop up appeared. I dont know what real tracker is but Optusnet is my ISP and it wasnt an ad or anything.

I dont know anything about spybot or ad-aware. Is it anti-virus software or something?
If it is then I should tell you that I'm using nortons antivirus 2002 at the moment and it did not find anything.
